Airport delays today: live FAA ground stops and flight delays across the U.S.

Every FAA ground stop and delay program currently posted, worst first, with the cause and how long it is running - drawn from the FAA's National Airspace System status feed and refreshed every few minutes.

    How to read this page

A ground stop means the FAA is holding flights bound for that airport at their departure airports, usually because of weather, congestion or staffing; arrivals stack up, aircraft and crews end up out of position, and delays often continue for hours after the stop lifts. A ground delay program is the milder version: arrivals are metered and flights absorb the delay before departure. Short, transient delays are filtered out, so anything listed above is worth checking against your own flight.

    Flight cancellations today

The FAA feed reports airport-wide programs, not individual cancellations. In practice a ground stop or a multi-hour delay program is what drives flight cancellations today: aircraft and crews end up out of position and airlines start thinning the schedule. If your airport is listed above, check your specific flight's live status rather than waiting for the airport-wide picture to clear - and know that a cancellation or a significant delay can entitle you to a cash refund.

    Your refund rights (U.S. DOT)

Under the U.S. Department of Transportation's automatic-refund rule, if your flight is cancelled or significantly changed - for example, a domestic flight now scheduled to arrive three or more hours late, or an international flight six or more hours late - and you choose not to travel and don't accept rebooking or alternative compensation, the airline owes you a prompt cash refund to your original form of payment, not a voucher. This applies even on non-refundable tickets, and regardless of the cause, including weather. See the DOT's automatic-refund rule and its refunds guidance.
